Simpson, Sharon A. (Baumann) (11 SEP 1947 - 21 JUN 2017)

Sharon A. Simpson, 69, of Cortland, Ill., passed away on Wednesday, June 21, 2017 at DeKalb County Rehab and Nursing Center.

Sharon was born on Sept. 11, 1947 in Medford, the daughter of William and Dolores (Drager) Baumann. She married Bernard Simpson on May 13, 1967, in Stetsonville. Sharon was employed for 40 years by GTE, which later became AG Communications. She was a member of the Salem Lutheran Church in Sycamore, Ill. and enjoyed knitting and crocheting.

She is survived by her husband, Bernard; her children, David (Jill) Simpson, Jodi (Scott) Fenske, Daniel Simpson and Tracey Simpson; her mother, Dolores; four grandchildren, Brad, Elise, Jonathon and Rachel; eleven siblings, Jerry, Wayne, Marie, Gloria, JoAnn, Linda, Doris, Rhonda, Robert, Vickie and Dale; and many nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her father, William.

A funeral service was held at 11 a.m. on Tuesday, June 27 at Salem Lutheran Church, in Sycamore, Ill., with Rev. Len Hoffmann officiating. Burial followed at Fairview Park Cemetery in DeKalb, Ill.

Visitation was from 4 p.m. to 7 p.m. Monday, June 26, 2017, at Anderson Funeral Home in DeKalb, Ill.

In lieu of flowers, memorials can be made to the Sharon A. Simpson Memorial Fund, addressed to the Simpson Family in care of Anderson Funeral Home, P.O. Box 605, 2011 South Fourth Street, DeKalb, IL 60115.
