Marquardt, Ruben F. (21 MAY 1927 - 6 JUL 2016)

Ruben F. Marquardt, 89, went to be with Jesus on July 6, 2016. He currently resided at Stoney River Assisted Living, Weston.

He was born May 21, 1927 in Nutterville, son of the late Erwin and Olga (Strehlow) Marquardt. On September 13, 1947, he married Della Tesch who has been faithfully by his side for 69 years.

A longtime member of St. John Lutheran Church, Town of Easton, Ruben served on numerous boards and committees through the years.

In spite of being stricken with polio as a young child, and difficulty walking, he proudly refused to let that stop him from working hard. Ruben was well known and respected in the community for his Mobil Oil Distributorship, owner of Marquardt Campers with son Gerry and Marquardt Stamp and Sign with son, Randy. For many years he enjoyed weekends at their place in St. Germain, fishing and being with friends. Ruben also enjoyed playing cards with family and friends, building bird feeders and houses, watching the brewers, and helping family whenever he could.

He will be missed by wife, Della, son, Gerald (Mary) Marquardt, Wausau, daughter, Jean (Rob) Rosenberg, Stillwater, Minn., and son Randy (Cathy) Marquardt, Ringle. Ruben is also survived by grandchildren, Anthony Stomski, St. Paul, Minn., Jodi (Brett) McCarthy, Hawthorne Woods, Ill., Rhonda (Tom) Kamenick, Saukville, Jessica (Keven) Stomski-Seim, Stillwater, Minn., Brian (Lindsey) Marquardt, Robbinsdale, Minn., and Kyle (Melissa) Marquardt, Wausau and 10 great grandchildren.

Funeral services will be 11:00 a.m. Saturday July 9, 2016 at St. John Lutheran Church, Town of Easton. Rev. Mark Lewis and Vicar John Stransky will officiate. Burial will be in Pine Grove Cemetery, Wausau. Friends may call on Friday from 4:00 p.m. until 7:00 p.m. at the Church. There will be visitation on Saturday from 9:30 a.m. until the time of services at the church.

Peterson/Kraemer Funeral Home, 1302 Sixth Street, Wausau, is in charge of arrangements. Online condolences may be expressed at www.petersonkraemer.com.

The family is grateful for the loving care from Norma and her staff of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice Services, the wonderful staff of Stoney River and Rev. Mark Lewis. God bless you all. Though our hearts are sad, we have the joy of knowing you are walking without a cane in heaven.
