Pospyhalla, Sammuel W. “Sam” (6 JUN 1987 - 28 APR 2017)

Sammuel W. “Sam” Pospyhalla, age 29, of Edgar passed away on Friday, April 28, 2017, at his home surrounded by his family. He went to be with his Lord after a lifelong struggle with cancer.

A Mass of Christian burial will be celebrated at 12 noon on Thursday, May 4, 2017, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in Cassel. The Rev. Felix Tigoy and Rev. Robert Streveler will both preside. Family and friends are invited to gather on Thursday at the church in Cassel from 9:30 a.m. until the time of service.

Serving as his pallbearers will be Sawyer and Connor Kurtzweil, Mitchel Baeseman, David Frahm, Ryan King and Cody Heidmann. His honorary pallbearers will be Jaxon and Jarrod Kurtzweil. Private committal to be held at a later date.

Sam was born on June 6, 1987, in Wausau, the son of Mike and Roxanne (Heidmann) Pospyhalla. He graduated from Edgar High School and worked various job in the area. His last jobs were working for Bauman Ginseng Company and at home on the Pospyhalla Farms.
His hobbies included hunting, fishing, snowmobiling and, most of all, spending his time in the outdoors. Sam cared for a small hobby farm which included 20 boar goats, two white face beef cattle and his canine companion, “Copper.” Sam also enjoyed going on hunting trips some which included Texas and Canada. Fishing in Canada with his dad, uncles and brothers was a favorite pastime. Going up north to the hunting shack was a regular thing for Sam, Dad, brothers and friends. Watching Packer games and Badgers was a huge priority for him. Sam’s hunting shack nickname was always “1 Shot Sammy.” Sam was an amazing godfather to Shyanne and Quinn, and he will be remembered as a gentle human being who loved people.

He will be greatly missed by his parents, Roxanne and Michael Pospyhalla of Edgar; his maternal grandparents, Ronald and Virginia Heidmann of Edgar; his paternal grandmother, Shirley Pospyhalla of Tomahawk; his siblings, Emanuel (Dawn) Pospyhalla of Edgar, Gabe (Denise) Pospyhalla of Hatley, Hannah (Justyn) Karlen of Edgar, Elizabeth (Luke) Pospyhalla of Edgar and Zachary (Katie) Pospyhalla of Edgar; seven nieces, Skye, Daisy, Mia, Emma, Savannah, Shyanne, Quinn; and two nephews on the way.

Sam was preceded in death by paternal grandfather, Walter Pospyhalla, and his uncle, Bruce Borchardt.

Sam and his family commented many times on how grateful they were for all the donations, love and generous support they have all received over these past years. A very special “THANK YOU” to all of you.

In lieu of flowers, memorials in Sam’s name are being accepted to either Hope Lodge or Ronald McDonald House.
