Mabel Verch, 94, of Marshfield, died Friday, Jan. 30, 2009, at Saint Claire's Hospital in the village of Weston.

A funeral prayer service will be held at 11 a.m. Tuesday, Feb. 3, 2009, at the Hansen-Schilling Funeral Home in Marshfield. The Rev. Bob Lesher will officiate. Burial will be in the Brooklawn Memory Gardens in the town of Richfield. According to Mabel's wishes, there will be no visitation.

Mabel Verch was born Dec. 10, 1914, in Stratford, a daughter of Michael G. and Sarah Etta (Whitehead) Simolke. She attended school in Stratford.

The former Ms. Simolke was united in marriage to Paul Verch on Feb. 23, 1935, in Spencer. The couple made their home in Wakefield, Mich., for the next 14 years prior to moving to Marshfield. Mrs. Verch was a homemaker.

Mabel was a member of Faith Lutheran Church in Marshfield. She enjoyed cooking and dancing, and cherished the time she could spend with her husband and nieces, nephews and family.

Two sisters, Dorothy Lenz of Marshfield and Fern Augustine of Georgia, along with many nieces, nephews, relatives and friends, lovingly survive Mrs. Verch.

Her husband, Paul; parents; two brothers, Harry Simolke and Edward Simolke; four sisters, Edna Bargander, Lillian Campbell, Florence Coates and Violet Lochman, preceded Mrs. Verch in death.

Those wishing to make an expression of sympathy in Mrs. Verch's name are encouraged to do so to: Faith Lutheran Church of Marshfield.
