Hungsberg, Sylvia J. (Hurtiennie) (28 OCT 1916 - 27 APR 2011)

Sylvia J. Hungsberg, 92, of Memorial Nursing & Rehab Center, Medford, passed away on Wednesday, April 27, 2011 at Memorial Nursing & Rehab Center, Medford where she had resided for the past 1 year.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 AM Monday, May 2 at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford, with Rev. James Krueger officiating. Interment will be at Medford Evergreen Cemetery II.

Pallbearers will be her grandchildren, Sean Carlson, Kim Deiss, Sarah Frum, Jacob & Justin Hungsberg

Visitation will be held at Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford from 10 AM until time of funeral services at 11 AM on Monday, May 2.

Sylvia was born on March 8, 1919, in the Township of Medford, to William Julius and Helen (Frey) Hurtiennie. She attended school in the township of Hammel, and was a graduate of Medford High School. She also attended Beauty School. On April 21, 1942, Sylvia married Reuben E. Hungsberg, and he preceded her in death on April 5, 1980.

She was a lifelong resident of Medford. She owned & operated Sylvia’s Beauty Shop in Medford for a period of time. She did home daycare work for area children. She clerked at the Mode-O-Day Store & Fashion Crossroads in Medford for periods of time. She enjoyed traveling with tour groups, music, dancing, cooking & baking. Sylvia was a member of Immanuel Ev. Lutheran Church, Medford and was a past member of the Ladies of Immanuel.

She is survived by her children, Marlis (Gary) Carlson of Medford; Candice (Don) McCabe of Hazel Green, WI; Lorin (Arlene) Hungsberg of Garland, TX; and Russell (Kathy) Hungsberg of Loveland, CO; 5 grandchildren; and 5 great grandchildren.

Sylvia is predeceased by her parents, William Julius and Helen (Frey) Hurtiennie.
