Techmeier, Larry L. – Sgt. (24 JUN 1947 – 25 JUL 1969)

Sergeant Larry L. Techmeier, son of Chris B. Techmeir, town of Worden, Clark Co., Wisconsin, route 3, Stanley, was killed in the war in Vietnam.

Techmeir, age 22, had been in Vietnam for eight months when he was called home by the illness of his father. He had returned to Vietnam on July 3, 1969.

Larry was reported missing in action one week ago. His father was officially notified of his death on Thursday. The Pentagon released the news of Larry's death on Friday.

Sgt. Techmeier's body arrived at the eau Claire airport on Wednesday at 5 p.m.

Sergeant Techmeier was born June 24, 1947 and graduated from the Stanley High School in 1965. He entered the Army in 1967 and was to have received his discharge from the service at the end of this month.

He is survived by his father, Christian Techmeier of Stanley; his mother, Mrs. Bernice Techmeier of Orlando, Florida; one brother, John, at home; one sister, Denise of Orlando; and his maternal grandfather, Lester Baker of Orlando.

Military services will be conducted by the Thorp American Legion Post No. 118 for Sgt. Larry L. Techmeier on Friday morning, August 1st at ten a.m. at the Holy Family Church, Stanley.

The body will be in state at the Plombon Funeral Home, Stanley, until time of service.

All members of the Legion Post are requested to meet at the Thorp Legion Hall at nine a.m.

Dinner will be served at the Thorp American Legion Hall, all auxiliary members are urged to being something for dinner.
