Kalander, Clarence C. (3 JAN 1942 - 10 JAN 2017)

Clarence C. Kalander, 75, Prentice, was born to Eternal Life on Tuesday, January 10, 2017, at the Aspirus Wausau Hospital, Wausau.

He was born on January 3, 1942, in Ogema, WI, the son of Gust Sr. and Margaret (Tesch) Kalander.

He spent his early life and schooling in Price County where he attended and graduated from Prentice High School, Class of 1960. He served his country in the U.S. Army during the Korean Conflict in Korea in 1962 –1963.

He was married to Carol Schweikert in Prentice. They later divorced. He then married Nancy Jilka on April 19, 1980, in Phillips.

He was employed as a welder for Prentice Hydraulics, then Omark Industries then Blount all of Prentice until the time of his retirement in 1998.

He was a member of the First Baptist Church, the Prentice Fire and Ambulance, and a former member of the Southern Price County VFW Post #8491, all of Prentice.

After his retirement he did specialty welding projects, was an avid outdoorsman who enjoyed hunting and ice fishing, cutting firewood, and especially spending time with his family and friends. If there was a special need he was always available to help.

He is survived by his wife Nancy, Prentice, by 1 daughter Amy (Darrin) Polzin, Kronenwetter, WI; by 2 grandchildren: Dalton and Bria Polzin; by 8 brothers and sisters, Dorothy Pisca; and Betty (Warren,Sr.) Carlson; Jack (Dian) Kalander; Bud (Edith) Kalander; and Sharon (Bruce) Jilka; all of Prentice, Joanne Johnson, Grafton, WI; Helen Best, Park Falls; Margaret “Che Che” Schumacker, Bloomingdale, IL; by his Mother-In-Law Alice Jilka, Norridge, IL; by 1 sister-in-law Shirley Kalander, Prentice; by nieces and nephews including Tim Hanson, Prentice.

He was preceded in death by his parents, by 1 infant son Carl, and by 1 brother Sonny.

A memorial service will be held at 11:00 A.M. on Saturday, January 14, 2017, at the First Baptist Church, Prentice, with Pastor Neil Schindler officiating. Military Honors will be conducted by the Southern Price County VFW Post #8491, Prentice.

Honorary pallbearers will be members of the Prentice Fire and Ambulance and the Southern Price County VFW Post #8491. Inurnment will be in the Prentice Cemetery, Prentice in the spring.

Friends may call at the church on Saturday, Jan. 14, 2017, from 9:00 A.M. until the time of the service.
