Schuld officially began his duties with the NPD Nov. 1. He will be sworn in by Mayor Steve Mabie at an upcoming city council meeting.

Schuld graduated from Auburndale High School in 2013. He then attended Mid-State Technical College (MSTC) in Wisconsin Rapids, obtaining an associate’s degree in criminal justice in 2015.

He has six months of experience, working part-time for the Wood County Sheriff’s Department. Police Chief Scott Klueckmann said Schuld would be required to move within 15 miles of the Neillsville city limits following a successful one-year probationary period.
