Curran, Harold A. (25 AUG 1915 - 14 OCT 2012)

Harold A. Curran, age 97, of 956 N. Front Street, Rib Lake, passed away on Sunday, October 14, 2012 at his residence in the village of Rib Lake under the loving care of his family and Aspirus Comfort Care Hospice.

The funeral mass will be held at 11:00 AM Wednesday, October 17 at Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake, with Father Otto Bucher and Deacon Mark Priniski officiating. Interment will be in the Lakeview Cemetery, Rib Lake.

Pallbearers will be Bill Thusing, Al David, Sean Smolek, Mel Clendenning.

Visitation will be at the Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake from 10 AM until the time of funeral services at 11 AM on Wednesday, October 17.

Harold was born on August 25, 1915 at Rib Lake, to Chester and Augusta (Pries) Curran.

He attended Rib Lake elementary schools, graduate of Rib Lake High School, received an accounting degree from UW-La Crosse.

Harold’s first marriage was on April 18, 1940 at St. John the Baptist Catholic church, Rib Lake to Kathryn Pellkofer, and she preceded him in death December 25, 1967. His second marriage was in 1979 at Santa Fe, NM to Lucille “Lu” Skue, and she preceded him in death September 4, 2007.

After his education he entered the US Army, veteran of WW II. After the service he moved to Chicago where he worked as an accountant for Ace Hardware Corp. until his retirement in 1977. He moved to Santa Fe, NM where he resided for a period of time before returning to Rib Lake in 1994. He enjoyed reading, golf and fishing.

Harold was a member of Good Shepherd Catholic Church, Rib Lake.

He is survived by his children, Maureen (Al) David of Knoxville, TN; Paula (Bill) Thusing of Markham, IL; one grandchild, Sean (Emma) Smolek of North Port, FL; two great grandchildren Joseph and McKenna Smolek; a sister Jeanette Clendenning of Rib Lake.

Harold is predeceased by his parents, Chester and Augusta (Pries) Curran; and siblings
Lorraine Nebeker; Marlin Curren.
