Freeman, Mark H. (24 DEC 1948 - 3 NOV 2016)

Mark H. Freeman, age 67, of Spencer, passed away on Thursday, November 3, 2016.

His memorial service will be held at 11AM on Wednesday, November 9, 2016 at Life Tributes Funeral Home in Spencer. Rev. Samuel Martin will officiate. Committal services will take place privately at a later date.

Family and friends are invited to gather on Tuesday at the funeral home from 4PM until 7PM and again on Wednesday at the funeral home from 10AM until time of services.

Mark was born December 24, 1948 in Marshfield, the son of the late Russell and Grace (Dishinger) Freeman. He graduated from Spencer High School and later attended Mid-State Technical College in Wisconsin Rapids. He served his country in the United States Army as a medic in Korea from 1969 until his honorable discharge in 1971.

On September 8, 1973 Mark was married to Susan Rank at Saint John the Baptist Catholic Church in Marshfield.

Mark was retired from the US Postal Service in Marshfield after 30 years of dedicated service as a postal carrier. In his spare time, Mark offered his time and talents as a volunteer coach for the Spencer Boys and Girls 4th and 5th grade basketball teams. He was a wonderful handyman always willing to help out those friends he made on his postal route, He enjoyed woodworking projects, cutting wood and playing “lumberjack”. He loved following the Spencer Rockets, Brewers, Bucks, Badgers and Packers or maybe just spending a weekend at his cabin, taking care of his garden, playing softball or most of all going fishing with his trusted canine and good friend Gary “Hawk” Hauke.

Survivors include his wife Susan of Spencer; his two children Shawn (Megan) Freeman of Blaine, MN and Brooke (Clint) Smith of Spencer. He was Papa to Jack, Ben, Hayly and Lauryn.

Mark was further survived by his siblings Scott Freeman of Spencer and Susan (David) Shupe of Spencer along with many other relatives and friends. He was preceded in death by his parents and his canine companion “Cassie”.

If desired, memorials to Spencer Schools/workout facility or Clark County Humane Society are being accepted by his family. Arrangements are under the care of Life Tributes Funeral Home-Spencer.
