Czerniak, Regina M. (Dums) (27 MAR 1923 - 15 OCT 2016)

Regina M. Czerniak, 93, of Westboro passed away on Saturday, October 15, 2016 at Our House Senior Living, Medford, surrounded by her family.

She was born on March 27, 1923 to John and Margaret Dums in the Town of Greenwood. She graduated from Highland Grade School, Rib Lake High School and Antigo Vocational School for Bookkeeping.

After schooling Regina worked as a housekeeper in Chicago and at the Rosemont Powder Plant in Minneapolis. She married Louis H. Czerniak on September 10, 1949 at St. Anne’s Catholic Church in the Town of Greenwood, he preceded her in death. After marriage she went on to become a dairy, maple syrup, and Christmas tree farmer.

In her spare time she was very involved with Assumption Catholic Church in Chelsea, where she was a religious education coordinator and teacher for 45 years. She was also the recipient of the 1989 Pax Christi Award at the Superior Diocesan Council of Catholic Women. Outside of church she enjoyed gardening, caring for her chickens, sewing, cooking, canning, and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Regina is survived by her children: Daniel Czerniak of Westboro, Mike (Peggy) Czerniak of Medford, Gail (Ron) Behm of Gleason, Mary Lou Czerniak of Westboro, Richard (Kathy) Czerniak of Medford, Tony Czerniak of Westboro, Marlene (Shane) Klemm of Westboro, and Joan (Gerald) Matyka of Rib Lake, 10 grandchildren, and 2 great-grandchildren. She is further survived by two sisters Helen and Marcella Dums, both of Medford, a brother John (Mary) Dums of Rib Lake, and a sister-in-law Hilda Dums of Rib Lake.

In addition to her husband Regina is preceded in death by her siblings Joseph Dums, Bernard Dums, Donald Dums, and Margaret Vickers.

Funeral Services for Regina will take place on Tuesday, October 18 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church at 11:00 AM with Father Phil Juza and Deacon Joe Stefancin officiating. Burial will follow at Chelsea Community Cemetery.

Visitation will take place on Monday, October 17 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 4:00 PM until 7:00 PM, a rosary service will be held at 7:00PM Visitation will continue on Tuesday, October 18 at Holy Rosary Catholic Church from 10:00 AM until the time of service at 11:00 AM.

In honor of Regina, memorials may be made to Good Shepard Catholic Church or Holy Rosary Catholic Church religious education programs.
