Schwarze, Hattie Margaret (18 MAR 1915 – 29 JUL 2016)

Hattie Margaret Schwarze, 101, went to be with her Lord and Savior Friday, July 29, 2016 at Wells Nature View in Marshfield under hospice care. Funeral services will be 11:00 AM Thursday, August 4, 2016 at Immanuel Lutheran Church in Hewitt, with Pastor Dean Pingel Officiating. Visitation will be from 10:00 AM until the time of service at the church on Thursday. Pallbearers will be: Tom Hardinger, Dustin Kuhlka, Luke Hardinger, Sam Hardinger, Will Hardinger, and Jake Hardinger.

Hattie was born on the family farm south of Neillsville on March 18, 1915 the daughter of Ferdinand and Amelia (Marks) Kopp. She attended Neillsville schools and helped on the family farm. In June of 1933 Hattie married Theodore "Ted" Schwarze of Greenwood. They lived in various towns (Pittsville, Lake Mills, and Willard) until purchasing a 7 ½ acre hobby farm in Marshfield in 1944. There they raised milk cows, chickens, and later beef cattle. In September of 1962 Ted passed away at the age of 56. Hattie had to join the work force and worked at several Marshfield businesses until obtaining a full-time job as a janitor for the Marshfield School District. She retired in 1981.

She enjoyed her beautiful flower gardens and raising fruits and vegetables. Hattie raise green beans for the Marshfield Canning Company. She also grew strawberries, raspberries, as well as cucumbers that she sold to local friends and neighbors. Hattie was an excellent homemaker and cook. She especially enjoyed her many fishing trips to Hatfield with Ted and her grandchildren. Hattie lived in her Marshfield home until the age of 95, when she moved to Wells Nature View.

Hattie is survived by two children: Gilbert (Kathy) Schwarze of Livingston, MT and Judy Schlinsog of Hewitt; as well as seven grandchildren: Jay Schwarze, Jan Schwarze, Jill Gunlaph, Jane Schwarze, Tammy (Tom) Hardinger of Marshfield, Tracy (Brad) Smith of Denver, CO and Amy (Dustin) Kuhlka of Neillsville. She is further survived by 8 great grandchildren: Luke, Katie, Sam, Will, and Jake Hardinger, Jonah and Eleanor Smith, and Hattie Kuhlka.

She is preceded in death by her husband: Ted; son-in-law: Darwin Schlinsog; as well as her brothers: Erik Kopp, Bill Kopp, and Albert Marks.

The family would like to thank Patty and the staff at Wells Nature View for all the great care they gave Hattie over the past 6 years. They would also like to thank the Hospice nurses and staff.

Memorials may be given in Hattie's name to Immanuel Lutheran Church.
