Herrmann, Winifred G. (Martens) Hass (22 FEB 1927 - 17 SEP 2016)

Winifred G. Herrmann, age 89, of Abbotsford, passed away on Saturday, September 17, 2016 the Colonial Center in Colby.

A Funeral Service will be held at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, September 22, 2016 at First United Church of Christ in Colby. Pastor Teri A. Hanson will officiate. Interment to follow at Colby Memorial Cemetery.

Family and friends are welcome from 4:00 until 7:00 p.m. on Wednesday, September 21 and from 9:00 a.m. until time of service Thursday all the church. The Maurina-Schilling Funeral Home in Colby is entrusted with the arrangements.

Winifred was born on February 22, 1927, the daughter of Erwin and Viola (Patitz) Martens in Clark County. She was raised on the family farm and attended Clover Nook Rural School and graduated from Colby High School in 1945.

Winifred was united in marriage to Rueben Hass, who preceded her in death on February 21, 1957. On November 5, 1958, she was united in marriage to her loving husband, Richard A. Herrmann in Pine City, MN. They celebrated their 50th anniversary before he passed away on August 25, 2009.

Winifred was a lifetime member of First United Church of Christ and was active in the Women's Guild. She also was on the election board for the Town of Colby, the Chequamegon Bird Club and Colby Sandhill Homemakers. Winifred also enjoyed playing cards with friends, bowling, square dancing, traveling the United States, gardening and tending to her flower garden. Most importantly, she loved to spend time with her family, especially her grandchildren.

Winifred is survived by her two daughters: Jane (Dave) Pescinski and Lois (Jeffrey) Fischer, both of Colby; eight grandchildren: Tara (Craig) Krug, Brandon Pescinski, Heidi Pescinski, Caroline Fischer, Mary Fischer, Carrie Hass, Kim Hass, Nathan (Jody) Hass; eight great-grandchildren: Addison and Caleb Krug, Karly and Carson Kibbel, Zachary, Claire, Sarah and Jacob Hass.

She is further survived by her brother, Norbert (sister-in-law, Bernie) Martens of Unity; two sisters-in-law, Virgene Martens of Stratford and Verna (Eugene) Blair of Abbotsford and a brother-in-law, Glenn Herrmann of Minocqua; nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents; her two husbands, Rueben and Richard; her two sons: Larry Hass on June 18, 2013 and Ronald Hass on May 4, 2000; her brother, Norman Martens; two sisters-in-law: Evelyn (Harold) Ven Rooy and Darlene Herrmann.
