Stange, Allen E. (19 SEP 1930 – 12 AUG 2016)

Allen E. Stange, age 84, of Abbotsford, passed away on Friday, August 12, 2016, at his cabin in the Town of Holway.

Allen was born on September 19, 1931, the son of Clarence and Linda (Scheer) Stange in the Town of Green Grove. Linda later married Neil Oestreich who became an important factor in his life. He attended elementary school in Green Grove. Allen joined the US Army and served during the Korean War. He was united in marriage to Virginia Marie Treankler on December 29, 1952, at Saint Bernard's Rectory in Abbotsford. Together they raised 7 children. Allen was a journeyman welder at Central Burner and Boiler of Marshfield for 28 years until his retirement in 1994.

Allen was a member of Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. He was an avid sportsman and enjoyed deer and elk hunting and trout fishing in the Sioux river. His hobbies include metal detecting, making firewood and maple syrup, picking berries, gardening, flower shopping and playing cards. But most of all, just being at the cabin and enjoying the outdoors.

Allen is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Virginia, of Abbotsford and seven children, Rhonda Hoesly of Spencer, Jeff (Cheryl) Stange of Spencer, Scott (Donna) Stange of Unity, Randy (Mary Ann) Stange of Abbotsford, Pam (Jim) Resech of Curtiss, Michelle (Paul) Socwell of Medford and Sondra (Mark Rausch) Stange of Abbotsford; 21 grandchildren, Matthew, Maynard, Michael, Mariah, Wayde, Gavin, Darby, Danielle, Dominique, Monica, Ryan, Beth, Adam, Codey, Elizabeth, Jasiah, Zachary, Haley, Kendra, Jarrett and Makayla and 17 great grandchildren. He is further survived by his brothers and sister, Harold (Jackie) Stange of Colby, Lyle (Alice) Stange of Milwaukee and Jean (Chuck) Montgomery of Waukesha.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son, Joseph Stange and a son in law, John Hoesly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 a.m. on Wednesday, August 17, 2016, at Saint Mary's Catholic Church in Colby. Father Peter Manickam will preside. Interment will be at Saint Mary's Cemetery in Colby with full military rites conducted by the Colby VFW Post 2227. Family and friends are welcome from 9:00 am until time of the service Wednesday at the church. Serving as Allen's pallbearers are, Codey Stange, Wayde Hoesly, Gavin Hoesly, Matthew Stange, Maynard Stange, Michael Stange, Ryan Stange, Zachary Stange and Jarrett Rausch.

In lieu of flowers a memorial will be designated at a later date.
