Zink, Robert George – Pfc. (9 APR 1947 – 19 JUN 1968)

A former resident of Abbotsford, PFC Robert George Zink, 21, of Stevens Point, died Wednesday, June 19, 1968 of wounds received in Vietnam.

PFC Zink was the son of Mrs. Catherine Zink, Stevens Point, and the late Herman Zink. He was wounded by small arms fire near Saigon while on a mission as a medic for the 25th Infantry Division.

PFC Zink was born April 9, 1947, at St. Joseph's Hospital, Marshfield, while the family was living at Abbotsford. His father operated a furniture store and funeral home at Abbotsford until his death.

After the sale of the funeral home about nine years ago, the family move dto Stevens Point. Robert graduated from Pacelli High School there, and entered the service last July.

He had been in Vietnam since last January.

Funeral arrangements have not been completed but will be at St. Peter's Catholic Church, Stevens Point, with burial at Marshfield.

Surviving, besides his mother, are four sisters, Mrs. Donald (Angela) Beni of New York City, Mrs. Baldwin (Sandy) Carstensen of Milwaukee, and Mrs. Kenneth (Judith Biser and Miss Catherine A. Zink, both of Stevens Point.
