Dr. R.L. Barnes, who has served Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) as postmaster since July 17, 1933, has taken his retirement, with 29 years and 3 months service. His plans for the future are to continue in his practice of Chiropractor with offices in the Greenwood Telephone Company building. It is also his intention to continue to be active in community affairs as he has for the past 41 years.

During the time he has lived in Greenwood he has served as Health officer, Justice of the Peace, member of the City Council, Secretary of the Clark County Democratic Party previous to entering Civil Service as Postmaster, and Chairman of the Salvage Committee of County Defense during World War II.

He is a present a member of the Clark County School Committee, in which he has served since 1947 with the exception of one year. He is also serving as a July Commissioner, succeeding the late Wm. Neuenfeldt.

The Gleaner, and the people of Greenwood, extend best wishes to Dr. Barnes in his retirement.
