Winter, Richard A. "Dick" (8 JUL 1932 – 28 MAY 2016)

Richard (Dick) Winter, 83 of Granton, WI died on Saturday, May 28, 2106 at St. Joseph's Hospital in Marshfield surround by the love and support of his family.

Richard Arnold Winter was born on July 8, 1932 at home in the Town of Grant, the son of Arno and Nina (Stoker) Winter. He graduated from Granton High School in 1950. He enlisted in the United States Army, serving with the Military Police from 1956 to 1958 in New York. On September 5, 1959 he was united in marriage to Catherine Elmhorst at Zion Lutheran Church in Granton. Together they farmed on Richard's family dairy farm in the Town of Lynn. The farm has been in their family for 125 years. He was a very hard working man who loved farming, his family and spending time with his grandchildren.

He is survived by his wife of 56 years, Catherine; their children: Constance (Conrad Richer) Curran of Mount Horeb, Marcia (Rick) Garza of Stratford, Kevin Winter of Granton, Carolyn (Dave) Blumer of Chetek, and Julie (Paul) Plautz of Greenwood; eight grandchildren: Dan and Kyle Curran, Hannah and Karl Strickland, Logan and Lana Blumer, and Marissa and Mitchell Plautz. He is further survived by his sisters Lorraine Porath, Owen and Ethel Raplinger, De Pere as well as brother-in-law, George Eloranta, Owen.

Richard was preceded in death by his parents; sister, Lola Eloranta, and a daughter at birth.

Private family services will be held. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Zion American Lutheran Church, W2840 Hill Rd, PO Box 118, Granton, WI 54436.
