Janesville Settlement (20 Feb 1919)

F. Hatton and son, Clark, and Roger Dillenbeck attended the Modern Woodman meeting and supper Tuesday evening at Greenwood.

Al. Flagg was pleasantly surprised when his cousin, Jake, of Michigan, and his cousin, Henry Flagg, of Humbird, came Wednesday. Al had not seen his cousin Jake for over 35 years.

Chas. Emeling and sister, Miss Edith, of Spencer, spent the latter part of the week here with Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Keefe.

Miss Maude Aliger and Mrs. M. Dillenbeck visited school Tuesday.

Jake Salmerson was a business caller in Greenwood Thursday.

Joe Buettner was a business caller at Loyal Friday and was a witness of the terrible explosion at the north side cheese factory. Joe was there about 10 minutes after the explosion occurred and says it was a very sad sight. One man was instantly killed and the other died on the way to the hospital. The factory was all blown to bits.

Mrs. M. Dillenbeck called on Mrs. C. Hatton Friday afternoon.

Roger Dillenbeck took Mrs. Fred Kalkofen and son and Maude Pitts to their homes in Tioga Friday.

Mrs. F. Marlik called on Mrs. Al. Flagg Friday.

Fred and Inez Clintsman attended the masquerade at Neillsville Wednesday.

Chas. Buyse of Loyal was a business caller in this vicinity last week.

Joe Buettner has started to saw ties at the Zimmerman farm in Eaton Center.

Chas. Halle had the misfortune to lose a valuable cow last week.

Mr. and Mrs. C. Hatton and son and Mrs. Palzer spent Sunday at S.B. Flagg’s.

Fred Halle was a caller in Eaton Center Sunday.

Anna and Sophia Waseca and a few more young people from Globe spent Sunday afternoon with Inez Clintsman.

Anita and Alfreida Halle spent Sunday with Helen Farning.

Mrs. Chas. Bostwick spent Monday with Mrs. Emma Sythe in Eaton Center.

Mrs. D. Moorehead and daughter and son, David, were Eaton Center visitors Sunday.

Mrs. F. Meyers spent Friday afternoon with Mrs. Lew Dimler.
