West Eaton (20 Feb 1919)

Mrs. A. Davey gave a surprise party for her daughter, Bernice, on Feb. 12th, it being her birthday. Bernice visited Mrs. Meyers on that day and when she got home the house was crowded with friends and neighbors. It was surely a surprise to her. The evening was spent in singing and playing games. Mrs. Geo. Gemmeke made the party cake and upon it was written, Bernice Davey, 17 years old, Feb. 12th, 1919. The friends and neighbors presented Miss Bernice with a beautiful cameo ring and Claus Anderson also gave her a ring, which he made in France out of a coin. Miss Victoria Bahl presented her with a beautiful camisole and she received other presents and at midnight a lovely supper was served by the ladies and later everyone went home wishing Miss Bernice many more happy birthdays. If anyone is looking for a good time, don’t forget that it can be had at A.B. Davey’s, as they are surely good entertainers.

Sophia and Hattie Susa were calling on friends in our vicinity Sunday afternoon.

Mrs. A. Davey visited Mrs. Meyers Monday.

Norton Borgers is home from the Jorenby farm.

Mr. Murlak was at Willard Monday.

Mrs. A. Davey was calling at H. Bostwick’s and Mrs. Gemmeke’s Tuesday.

Mr. Arch hauled wood to Greenwood Monday.

The Davey girls have a new piano. Good for them.
