York Center (6 Feb 1919)

Mrs. E.M. Lawrence called on Mrs. Wm. Rowe last Friday.

Mrs. John Vande Berg spent the past week at Marshfield with her son, Alvin, and family. Alvin had the misfortune to lose two fingers in a wood-sawing accident.

Sidney Free went to Texas last week on a sight-seeing trip and to look the country over. Sid is in the market for a farm, and perhaps Texas may appeal to him.

Arthur Diercks visited his sister, Mrs. Ferd. Haack, at Abbotsford the past week.

Isla Rowe, Violet Fulwiler, Naomi Lawrence, Alice Root, Frieda Wiernszenski, Ida Voigt, Ruth Vande Berg and Sarah Davis went to Mrs. E. Mortimer’s home last Friday and finished the quilt for the fire sufferers in Northern Minnesota.

Miss Irma Rowe attended the lecture course at Neillsville last Friday night.

A few of Mrs. Frank Treska’s friends gave her a surprise last week Tuesday evening in honor of her 51st birthday. Games, music and a fine lunch were the features of the evening’s entertainment. All hope that Mrs. Treska may live to enjoy many more birthdays.
