Uhlig, Alfred "Alfie" (7 DEC 1931 - 4 APR 2016)

Alfred "Alfie" Uhlig, age 84, of Abbotsford, passed away on April 4, 2016 at Golden Living Center at Continental Manor in Abbotsford. A private Memorial Mass was held at St. Bernard's Catholic Church in Abbotsford. Interment will be in the Abbotsford Public Cemetery.

Alfred was born on December 7, 1931, the son of Alvin and Laura (Klemetson) Uhlig in Dorchester. He attended Abbotsford Public School and was a 1950 graduate of Abbotsford High School.

On April 26, 1952, Alfred married Viola Froeba at St. Matthew's Catholic Church in Milwaukee. After graduation, he worked at Allis Chalmers in Milwaukee for a short time. Then they moved to Abbotsford and he worked for his father at Uhlig Construction. Alfred later became a partner for Uhlig Construction and Abbotsford Homes, building many homes and businesses

Alfred enjoyed country dancing, traveling on many cruises, feeding the birds and gardening especially growing raspberries.

Alfred is survived by his wife of 63 years, Viola Uhlig of Abbotsford; his daughter, Shelley (Gary) Thielman of Abbotsford; three sons: Alan (Ruth) of Abbotsford, David (Sara) of Dorchester and Rick (Carrie) of Green Bay; 12 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren. He is further survived by a sister, Yvonne Strom of Cambridge, MN and a brother, Robert (Sharee) Uhlig of Dorchester.

He was preceded in death by his parents; one sister, Janet Hartl and two brothers-in-law, Norbert Hartl and Adrian Strom.
