Cummings, Eugene (24 APR 1872 – 5 JUL 1959)

Eugene Cummings, son of the late Mr. and Mrs. Charles Cummings, was born April 24, 1872 at Clare, Wisconsin. He came with his parents to Greenwood (Clark Co., Wis.) when he was a child, and received his education here.

On December 11, 1897 he was married to Ella Alton at Curtiss.

In 1909 Mr. Cummings and family went to Lindsey, Montana, where he farmed until 1944, when they moved to Glendive, Montana, where he has since resided.

Mr. Cummings passed away on Sunday, July 5, 1959 at the General Nursing Home in Glendive, following a lingering illness.

Funeral services were held at the First Methodist Church in Glendive, on Wednesday, July 8th at 2:30 p.m. Burial was made in the Dawson Cemetery.

He is survived by his wife Ella, one son, Clarence, of Billings, Montana; two daughters, Mrs. Ralph (Eleanore) Newton, Glendive; Mrs. Orville (Anita) Churchill, Great Falls, Montana; one brother, Charles Cummings, Tomahawk, Wis.; one sister, Miss Rue Cummings, Sparta, Wisconsin; 12 grandchildren and 27 great-grandchildren, also many nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his parents, a son Joseph, two sisters, Mrs. Otto (Lola) Behrens and Mrs. John (Gladys) Arends.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Behrens attended the funeral at Glendive, Montana.
