Breed, Charles M. (29 MAY 1847 – 21 NOV 1918)

Charles M. Breed died at his home in Port Orchard, Wash., November 21, 1918, of heart failure.

He was born in Essex County, New York, May 29, 1847, and was 71 years of age at the time of his death.

He came to Neillsville about 1872, and was married here March 5, 1873, to Cordelia Breed.

He was a county surveyor of Clark County for a number of years, and was well known as a woodsman and surveyor, having followed that calling in nearly every state in the Union.

In 1897 he went to Alaska during the gold rush, and on his return made his home on Puget Sound until the time of his death.

He was a life member of Neillsville Lodge F. and A.M.

With him at the time of his death was his brother-in-law, Frank Breed, and the latter’s two daughters, Mary and Margaret, who had been attending him in his last sickness.

He was married twice, both wives preceding him in death, the second one having died last June.

He was buried in Seattle beside his first wife, and his foster daughter, Lillian Dopp.
