Romang, Robert "Bob" Lee (12 JAN 1951 - 20 FEB 2016)

Robert "Bob" Lee Romang, Athens, passed away Feb. 20, 2016 at the age of 65 after battling cancer.

Bob was born on Jan. 12, 1951 in Wausau. He was the son of Donald and Rose (Kitts) Romang. Bob married Sandra (Hoff) on Dec. 2, 1972.

Bob served his country as a medic in the National Guard. Afterward, he attended North Central Technical College and became a registered nurse and touched many lives in the Wausau area.

He was one of the first board members in the Rib Falls Lions Club and traveled to China and Germany for the Ginseng Board of Wisconsin. Bob's family was the most important thing in his life. He fiercely loved his daughters Heather and Nicole, taking them on his pilgrimages to the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally. Later, he relished spending time with his grandsons Jared and Jonathan, taking them on a fishing trip on Lake Michigan that ended with a lot less lunch. Bob was obsessed with motorcycling and often referred to himself as "biker trash". He loved to ride and attended the Sturgis Motorcycle Rally many times.

To Bob, riding his bike was a very social activity. He made friends all over the country and reunited with the "Sturgis Family" every year for the rally. He also enjoyed hunting, fishing and bird watching from the throne.

Survivors include, his loving wife, Sandra Romang, Athens. Daughters, Heather (Charles Larson) Romang of Wausau and her children, Jared and Jonathan Garske and Nicole (Jack) Smith of Weston and their son, Liam Smith. Step-mother, Jean Romang, Medford. Siblings, Sue (Robert) Heckendorf, Scott (Vicky) Romang and Renea (Michael) Marasco. Step-siblings, Georgia (James) Horst, Judy (Randy) Boehm and Jill Pickreign; and many nieces and nephews.

Besides his parents, he was preceded in death by step-brother, Gaylin Edwards; step-brother-in-law, Sonny Pickreign and brother-in-law Leroy Hoffman. A celebration of Bob's life will be held at 2 p.m. on Saturday, March 5 at the Rib Falls Town Hall, 1744 County Road S, Edgar, WI 54426.

In lieu of flowers, our family requests that memorial gifts in honor of Bob's life be directed to the Aspirus Health Foundation to support cancer research at the Aspirus Regional Cancer Center, 425 Pine Ridge Boulevard, Wausau, WI 54401.
