Steinke, Laura Christiana (14 MAY 1903 – 27 FEB 1969)

Funeral services for Mrs. William Steinke, 65, of Abbotsford, who died at 6 a.m. February 27, 1969 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield, were held Saturday afternoon, March 1. Conducted services at 2:30 o’clock at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church, Curtiss, after which interment was made in the parish cemetery.

The pallbearers were Walter Heise, Dennis Heise, Bob Mattson, Bill Mattson, Michael McCarron and Harold Stange.

Mrs. Steinke, the former Laura Christiana Borgemoen, was born May 14, 1903 in the town of Hoard (Clark Co., Wis.), and was married June 5, 1920 at Curtiss to William Steinke. The couple operated a farm in the area for a time and then moved to Abbotsford. Mrs. Steinke also was employed as an attendant at the Clark County Hospital, Owen, until about three years ago, when ill health caused her retirement.

Survivors include her husband, two sons, Eugene of South Holland, Ill., and Oakley of South Milwaukee. There are two grandsons and two granddaughters, and one great-grandson surviving, and one brother, Oluf Borgemoen of Chelsea, and three sisters, Mrs. Milla Lott, Mrs. Ida Schiszik and Mrs. William N. (Marie) Thompson, all of Curtiss.

She was preceded in death by a brother and two sisters.

Relatives and friends from a distance came to the funeral were Illinois, Indiana, Michigan, Minnesota, Milwaukee, Phillips and Sparta.
