Schmidt, Charles Frederick (29 SEP 1877 – 17 JAN 1969)

Charles Frederick Schmidt, 91, Milan (Marathon Co., Wis.), died at his home in Milan Saturday, January 18, 1969.

Services were held Tuesday, January 21 at the First United Church of Christ in Colby. The Rev. Kenneth Dix officiated and burial was made in Colby Memorial Cemetery. The Lulloff Funeral Home was in charge of the funeral arrangements.

Mr. Schmidt was born in Sheboygan County September 29, 1877. On October 25, 1905, he married Louise Herrmann at the First United Church of Christ in Colby. Mr. Schmidt grew up in Dorchester on a farm. After his marriage he moved to Milan and lived there the rest of his life. He was employed by M.C. Ellingson as a bookkeeper. Later he entered into partnership with Mr. Ellingson under the firm name of Ellingson and Schmidt Lumber Company. He was employed later by the Bank of Athens at the Milan station until his retirement in 1946.

He was a clerk and director on the school board and a treasurer for th town of Johnson. His wife died October 20, 1948.

Survivors include three children, Alfred of Milan, Galen of Pittsford, N.Y., and Vernon of Rockford, Ill., and six grandchildren.
