Youstra, Sonnet (14 SEP 1957)

On Saturday, Sept. 14, 1957, Mr. Carl J. Severson, son of Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Severson, Willard (Clark Co., Wis.), was married to Miss Sonnet Youstra, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Philbin of Bellwood, Ill.

The couple was married at a ten o'clock nuptial mass at Saint Dunstan's Episcopal Church, Westchester, Ill.

The bride, who was given away by her father, wore a chapel length gown of imported Chantilly lace over taffeta. The gown was fitted with long sleeves and had a "V" neckline. An all lace front skirt panel contrasted with a tiered back skirt of lace which fell into the chapel train. The maid of honor was Paula Weigel of Prospect Heights, Ill. She wore a waltz length gown of blue chiffon and carried a cascade bouquet of pink carnations. The other attendant, Noreen Plesic of Forest Park, was dressed like the maid of honor. Victoria Bartlett, the junior bridesmaid, wore a dress of powder blue lace over taffeta and carried a basket of milti-colored carnations.

The best man, brother-n-law of the groom, was Walter Backus of Willard. Also attending was John Trunkel Jr., formerly of Willard, now of Chicago. The men were dressed in ice blue jackets with dark slacks.

Carl, a 1954 graduate of Greenwood High School, is now employed as a draftsman by Western Electric.

Attending the wedding was Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Severson, Mr. and Mrs. Walter Backus, Willard; Mr. and Mrs. Paul Plautz of Fort Ben Harrison, Indiana, and Mr. and Mrs. Bill Vollrath of Eau Claire, Wis.

After a trip to Canada and to Willard, the couple returned to their home at 107 W. South Blvd., Oak Park, Ill.
