Mrs. Edna Lehmann, Heart Fund drive chairman for the village of Granton, has announced that a total of $97.85 has been collected.

Fund drive workers, in addition to Mrs. Lehmann, were: Mrs. Virginia Hanson, Mrs. Millie Zaleski, Mrs. Edna Lemons, Mrs. Gertrude Garbisch, Miss Ruth Pietenpol, and Mrs. Irene Mott.

Granton Royal Neighbors Fidelity Camp No. 6375 is to meet this (Thursday) evening with Mrs. Myrtie Davis.

Mr. and Mrs. William Lehmann spent the weekend in Appleton where they visited their daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Mel Smith and family, and attended a Saturday evening concert by the Chaminades, a women’s choral group of which Mrs. Smith is a member. Approximately 2,000 people gathered in the chapel of Lawrence University to hear the concert.

Family night will be held this Sunday, March 31, at the York Center United Methodist Church. The Choraliers will present a vocal music program. Lunch will be served afterwards.

The annual York Center cemetery committee meeting was to be held Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Lyle Fero attended a Ham dinner at St. John’s Lutheran Church, Withee, on Sunday.

Mrs. Otto Anding, Mr. and Mrs. Louis Breseman, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Tyler and Mr. and Mrs. Leland Bass and Keith were among relatives and friends who gathered at the Arnold Guk home in Marshfield Sunday in observance of Mrs. Guk’s birthday.

Mr. and mrs. Willard Becherer returned home last Wednesday from a two-week trip to Caldwell, Id., where t4hey visited their daughter and her family, the Warren Taylors. Their son, Paul, who took care of the farm while the Becherers were away, planned to visit his brother, David, a student at the university of Wisconsin-La Crosse, for a few days before returning to Milwaukee where he is employed.

The UMW of the Granton United Methodist Church is to meet Wednesday, April 3, at the church. Miss Ruth Pietenpol will be the hostess and Mrs. Verla Hales, the Bible Study leader. A congregational potluck dinner was held at the church Sunday noon.

Roland Quicker was honored Sunday on the occasion of his 70th birthday with a surprise birthday dinner at the home of his daughter and son-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Jerry Opelt, in Neillsville. Guests included: Larry Opelt of Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Rick Apfel of Madison, Mr. and Mrs. William Wolf of Marshfield, Mr. and Mrs. John Barth of Chili, Mr. and Mrs. Hubert Quicker of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. LaVern Vanderwyst of Granton, Mr. and Mrs. Wally Quicker and Mr. and Mrs. Robert Barth of Neillsville, Mr. and Mrs. Raymond Barth and son of Granton, Mr. and Mrs. James Barth and family of Chili and Mr. and Mrs. Butch Schultz of Lynn.

Mr. and Mrs. Garfield Freeberg of Eau Claire visited Sunday with her mother, Mrs. Van L. Kayser, at the Kayser home and with her father, Mrs. Kayser, at Memorial Hospital. It is not known how long he will remain hospitalized.

Mr. and Mrs. William Becherer attended funeral services Monday afternoon in Colby for her uncle, Herbert Neuhaus, late of Abbotsford.
