Holmes, Hannah S. (28 AUG 1881 – 03 DEC 1967)

Funeral services for Mrs. James A. Holmes, 86, a former Colby resident, were held at 2 p.m. Tuesday at the Lulloff Funeral Home, w ith the Rev. R. James Hagen officiating. Burial was made in the Unity Cemetery.

Mrs. Holmes died Sunday at the Wood County Infirmary at Port Edwards, where she had been a patient the past two and one-half years.

The former Hanna S. Jones was born in Colby Aug. 28, 1881. She was married Nov. 12, 1908 to James Holmes at Glendive, Mont. In 1928 they moved to Rib Lake, where they lived until 1953, when they moved to Wis. Rapids.

She is survived by two sons, James of Wisconsin Rapids and Leroy of Milwaukee, and four daughters, Mrs. Everett Taylor, Wis. Rapids, Mrs. Robert Yaeger, Boyd, Mrs. Fred Bailey of Rib Lake, and Rosa Holmes of Chippewa Falls. There are 11 grandchildren and four great-grandchildren.

Also surviving are two sisters, Mrs. Addie George and Miss Lydia Jones, both of Colby.

Her husband died March. 12, 1956.
