College Notes (14 May 2015)

Melanie Sperl of Withee, a psychology major attended Upper Iowa University Wausau Center, was named to the dean’s list (minimum 3.50 semesters GPA) for the summer 2015 term.

Samariah M. Bautch graduated in May 2015 from Fresno State in Fresno, CA, with a bachelor’s degree in biology. Bautch plans to continue her education at Ross University-School of Medicine in Dominica, West Indies, with the goal of returning to the Neillsville area or another rural area to practice.

Bautch is a 2010 graduate of Neillsville High School. Her parents are Wendy and Bob Finck of Neillsville and Charles and Marena Bautch of Inver Grove, MN.

The following Neillsville students are among 421 freshmen at the University of Wisconsin-Eau Claire who have been awarded scholarships for the 2015-2016 academic years.

Robyn Enloe received the Donald and Evelyn Schwantes Blugold Promise award, which is a pact between the donor and a student with promise but limited financial means. The student gets $1,000 their freshman year, and if they perform well academically, they will receive $500 or more as a sophomore.

Devon Opelt received the Freshman Honors award, which is a $1,000 scholarship awarded to incoming students with 28-30 ACT scores and certain top class rank percentages.
