Lavine, Gordon (30 March 1895 - 26 January 1974)

A Neillsville native, Gordon Lavine, 78, of 312 Hewett St., died January 26 at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield. Funeral services were held Tuesday from the Georgas Funeral Home with the Rev. Gary Clark of the United Church of Christ officiating. Interment was made in the Neillsville City Cemetery.

Mr. Lavine, the son of Fred and Ellis (Wilson) Lavine, was born March 30, 1895, in Neillsville and attended local elementary schools and Neillsville High School. He farmed for a time in the Town of York; then moved to Oregon for 35 years where he operated a machine shop and worked in the paper mills and the ship yards.

After moving back to Wisconsin he lived in Wisconsin Rapids for three years and then returned to Neillsville in 1965. His marriage to the former Kezia Turville took place July 14, 1928, in Neillsville.

Survivors, in addition to his wife, include one son, Alvin Lavene of rural Neillsville; and three grandchildren and five great-grandchildren.
