Ceremonies are being planned to award a Silver Star, and other medals, to the family of Dennis Klimpke who died in Vietnam April 15.

He was the son of Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Klimpke of route 2, Colby.

The Silver Star is one of the nation's highest awards for heroism. Other medals to be given are the Purple Heart and campaign ribbons.

The awards ceremony will be held Saturday night, Sept. 28, at the Colby City Hall, at 7:30 p.m.

Participating in the ceremony will be Army Capt. Hover of Wausau and Col. Johnson of Madison. The Colby Veterans of Foreign Wars will act as the color guard.

Sp/4 Klimpke was serving in the infantry at the time of his death. He was inducted into the army in August 1967, and was assigned to Vietnam in January of this year.
