Barker, Margaret H. (Jari) (16 SEP 1930 - 24 JUL 2015)

Margaret H. Barker, 84, was welcomed into heaven on Friday, July 24. She was born Sept. 16, 1930 in Medford to Joseph and Augusta (Makovec) Jari. Margaret moved to Rockford and worked at different factories.

She met her husband Bob through match-making initiated by Bob’s sister, Betty. She married Robert Barker and together shared 58 years of marriage while raising their three daughters.

Margaret was a homemaker most of her life, taking care of her family was her career. She was a lunch lady at Carlson Elementary School. She enjoyed bowling, sewing, gardening, assembling puzzles, couponing, baking and creating flower arrangements. Margaret was a long time member of St. Bridgets church.

Survivors include, husband, Robert; children, Cindy (Brad) Hyland, Nancy (Darrin) Mathews and Carol (Alan Dalton) Ousley; grandchildren, Stephanie Peavy, Thomas Castle Jr., Heather (Otoniel) Molina, Kyle Barker, Bryan (Carmissa Quinlin) Ousley; great-grandchildren, Felix, Lilliana, and Brody; brothers, Bobby (LaVerne), Matt (Carole) and Jim (Lois) Jari; sister, Barb Jari; many nieces and nephews, and sister-in-law Betty Cunningham.

She was predeceased by parents; step-mother, Alice Grzegorek; sisters, Josephine and Marie; brother, Joe Jr.

Mass of Christian Burial was held on Wednesday, July 29 at St. Bridget’s Church, 600 Clifford Ave. Loves Park, Ill. Burial took place at Sunset Memorial Gardens. To express condolences, visit www.sunsetfhmemgardens.com.
