Spencer Man killed in Town of Pine Valley Crash

Mitchell V. Kacer, 63, of Spencer was killed June 16 in a motorcycle versus automobile crash at the intersection of STH and STH 95 three miles south of Neillsville in the Town of Pine Valley.

According to the initial investigation by the Clark County Sheriff’s Department, Kacer was traveling westbound on STH 73 when he stopped for a stop sign at the intersection on STH 73 when he stopped for a stop sign at the intersection with STH 95. Kacer failed to yield to a car being driven northbound by David Rawson, 66, of Neillsville.

Kacer proceeded into the intersection and collided with Rawson’s vehicle. Rawson attempted to stop to avoid the motorcycle but struck it on his front driver’s side.

Rawson was wearing a seat belt and Kacer was wearing a helmet. Kacer was thrown from his motorcycle.

Sprit Air Helicopter flew Kacer to Ministry St. Joseph’s Hospital in Marshfield, where he succumbed to his injuries. Hospital staff pronounced Kacer dead at 11:51 p.m. that evening.

Rawson was transported to Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville for treatment of non-incapacitating/non-life threatening injuries.

The Neillsville Area Fire Department, the Neillsville Ambulance Service and the Spirit Air Helicopter responded to the scene.

The Clark County Sheriff’s Department and the Clark County Coroner’s office are continuing the investigation of the crash, which produced the second highway fatality for Clark County in 2015.
