Loyal.

Mr. and Mrs. Carpenter, drove over from Whitehall last Saturday to spend a week with their daughter, Mrs. Dr. Richmond.

Mr. O. C. Colby arid Mr. J. R. Jackman of Nunda, 111., transacted business in Clark county last week and while here spent last Sunday with their children, Mr. and Mrs. B. W. Colby of this place.

The seventh annual commencement exercises of the Loyal high school began Sunday evening with an appropriate baccalaureate address by Rev. J. A. Hill of the M. E. church to a full house. Subject: "Measuring Our Strength."

On Monday last the 2-year-old son of Jack Garvin fell from the second story of their residence in the Binder building, striking against .some oak plank twenty feet below, 'sustaining severe injuries. At last report the physician thought he would recover.

The annual picnic of the Old Settlers' association of Clark county was held in the Loyal opera house Tuesday, June 9th. A large number of the members and their friends from all parts of the county were present, and of course all went home full—that is of dinner', enthusiasm, good cheer and a stock of new "yarns," Another picnic will be held in September to which all old settlers and their friends are invited.
