Janesville Settlement (26 Sep 1918)

Mrs. D. Moorehead called on Mrs. Ed. Keefe Friday afternoon.

Mrs. Chas. Bostwick spent several weeks in Greenwood with Rev. and Mrs. Hendren.

Mrs. Dillenbeck and son, Roger, Mrs. F. Hatton, Mr. and Mrs. Clark Hatton returned Monday evening after several weeks’ visit with relatives at Baraboo, Madison, Janesville, Camp Grant, Davis Jct., Ill., and attended the fair at Milwaukee. The trip was made by auto and they report the crops fine, especially corn, and they state that the large fields are all ripe. The crops and roads in Illinois are not as good as in Wisconsin.

Mrs. Al. Flagg is on the sick list and under Dr. Baker’s care.

Ettiemay Clark visited the J.S. School Thursday and Friday.

Mrs. S.B. Flagg spent several days last week in Oregon with her mother, Mrs. Palzer.

Stryker Flagg, Clark and Evan Hatton and cousin, Mrs. Bert Clark, furnished music for the dance at Gorman Saturday evening.

Chas. Churkey, F. Hatton and Roger Dillenbeck are filling their silos this week.

Mrs. Bert Clark and children, Ettiemay and Ross, returned to their home at Lafayette, Ind., Monday after spending five weeks here with her aunts, Mrs. F. Hatton and Mrs. Dillenbeck.

Word was received here that Priv. David Moorehead has passed his second examination in the Machine Gun division and has been promoted to Sergt. We are all glad to hear of this, as David was a boy well liked by all who knew him and we are proud that the J.S. boys can stand the tests given them.

Mr. and Mrs. M.M. Bahl called at F. Hatton’s Sunday morning.

Mrs. Saulmerson helped Mrs. Chas. Churkey cook for the silo fillers Saturday.

Hattie Susa is helping Mrs. J.J. Sust with her household duties.

The following spent Sunday at the J.J. Susa home to see their little son: Mrs. Moth and Mrs. Magadanz of Ethitown, Mo., and Mrs. A.B. Davey and son Carl, John Schmidt of West Eaton, Mrs. D. Moorehead and daughter, Loretta, Mrs. R. Waseca and daughters, Anna and Sophia, Mr. and Mrs. Marvin and son, Harry, Orville Dimeler and Sophia Susa.

Mr. and Mrs. M.M. Bahl spent Sunday afternoon with Mr. and Mrs. Lew Dimeler.

Lyle Bostwick called at Ed. Keefe’s Friday afternoon.

Mrs. Lewie Webber spent Sunday at Globe with Mrs. Ed. Klueckman.

Mr. and Mrs. Ed. Keefe spent Sunday evening at Al. Flagg’s.
