Washburn (25 October 1973)

William Rizner finished his patrolman job for the Township last week Monday, when Wendell Kuhn, son of Mr. and Mrs. Bernard Kuhn, took over the job. Wedell recently returned from Germany, where he was stationed for two years.

Mr. Rizner has been patrolman for around 15 years. He started worked at the Nelson Muffler Plant in Neillsville last Tuesday.

Mr. and Mrs. Rizner sold their farm some time ago and moved into their new home in Pine Valley, south of the fairgrounds. The new owner of the farm rented the house to Mr. and Mrs. Smith.

Mr. and Mrs. Warren Drescher recently sold their farm to a family from Brodhead. The Dreschers plan to move to Oregon, where their son Jerry resides.

Mrs. Ralph Short entertained the Cannonville Ladies Aid Wednesday with about 24 in attendance. Proceeds were $10. Visitors were: Mr. and Mrs. Harry Teter, Mr. and Mrs. Jim Vincent, Mr. and Mrs. John Reinart, Mrs. Neil Meddaugh and son, Gordon, Mrs. Harold Elmendorf, Mrs. Bud Bremer, Mrs. Floyd Wall, Mrs. Frank Short, Mrs. Donald Kalsow, Mrs. Harry Kissling, Mrs. Michael Melvin and Mrs. R. Mortenson. The Next meeting was planned for Wednesday, November 28, as the regular date falls on the day before Thanksgiving Day.

Word was received last week by the Ralph Shorts from Mrs. Ole Skretleberg of Viroqua that Mrs. William (Minnie) Groves is a patient at Viroqua memorial Hospital. She suffered a slight heart attack Saturday Night.

Mr. and Mrs. Ervin Lutz of Chicago recently spent a weekend with his parents, Mr. and Mrs. Andreas Lutz.

Rev. D. E. Sprague called recently at the Mrs. Chris Feutz home.

Mrs. Harry Teter attended the Goldenrod Homemaker Club meeting at the Mrs. Vern Mortvedt home in Chili. Mrs. Roy Jennings and Mrs. Mortvedt were project leaders on ‘Flower Arrangements.’

Brenda Urban and Mr. and Mrs. David Vine were supper guests Friday of their grandmother, Mrs. Irving Stevens. Mr. and Mrs. Jack Urban spent the evening at the Stevens home. Brenda attended the football game, Neillsville versus Owen-Withee at Owen.

Mr. and Mrs. Elmer Kapfer and Mrs. Neil Meddaugh attended a meeting of the American Association of Retired Persons (AARP) in Neillsville, Tuesday evening.

Mrs. Darrel Hohenstein entertained a group of women at her home recently.

Bernard Kuhn fractured a bone in his right arm recently.’

Mrs. Art Odell and Mrs. Bud Elberts called on Paul Schultz, Mrs. Frank Short and Mr. and Mrs. Ollie Poler at Memorial Home last week.

Mr. and Mrs. Lynn Feutz of Wisconsin Rapids got his mother, Mrs. Chris Feutz, and son Donnie, Friday evening and they spent the night there. Saturday morning they drove to Randolph, where they spent the day with Mr. and Mrs. William Feutz.

Mr. and Mrs. Oliver Williams returned home Saturday from a trip to Missouri. They also visited their son and daughter-in-law, Mr. and Mrs. Roger Williams and family in Lake Geneva.

Bill Cook of Ocheyeda, Ia., spent from Wednesday until Saturday with Mrs. Art Odell and Mr and Mrs. Bud Elberts. He is a friend of the Elberts.
