Vornholt, Grace Mildred (4 April 1914 - 28 April 2015)

Grace Vornholt, 101, of Neillsville died Tuesday, April 28, 2015, at her home in the Neillsville Retirement Community.

Grace Mildred Baumer was born April 4, 1914, in the Town of Hewett, the daughter of George and Ida (Schultz) Baumer. She was raised by her grandparents and worked at the Arbutus Café, Quicker’s Quick Stop and for 26 years as a nurse’s assistant at the Memorial Medical Center in Neillsville. She was united in marriage to Mark Vornholt; he died in 1981.

Grace was a member of the United Church of Christ. She sang in the church choir, belonged to the church’s sewing circle and did other church activities. She also belonged to the Homemaker’s Club. Grace enjoyed gardening, growing beautiful flowers and she was an avid baker.

She is survived by a daughter, Ruth H. James, of California; 10 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren; and a daughter-in-law, Marian Vornholt of Neillsville.

She was preceded in death by her husband, Mark; a son, Fred; her parents; and three infant sons, Carl William Vornholt, Kenneth Wilbur Vornholt and David John Vornholt.

A memorial service for Grace will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the United Church of Christ in Neillsville. Pastor Jacoba Koppert will officiate at the service. Interment will be in the Neillsville City Cemetery. Visitation will be from 10 a.m. to 11 a.m. Saturday, May 16, 2015, at the United Church of Christ.
