Telin, Susan Ellen (10 JUL 1965)

Holy Rosary Catholic Church at Owen was the setting for the wedding of Susan Ellen Telin, Owen, and Stephen F. Slaby Jr., Phillips, Saturday, July 10, 1965. The 10 a.m. nuptial mass was read by Rev. Joseph C. Trinka, assistant pastor at Medford.

Mrs. W.J. Mahoney Jr. played the organ as the children's choir rendered several vocal selections.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Eric Telin, rural Owen. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Steve Slaby, Phillips. Mr. Telin presented his daughter in marriage before an altar which had been decorated with orange blossoms and peonies.

Miss Telin wore a floor length bridal gown with an empire waistline with re-embroidered Alencon lace appliques throughout the bodice and skirt. The full chapel length train was caught up with a self-fabric bow. Her silk illusion veil was held by a petal cloche. She carried a cascade of pink sweetheart roses and white Shasta daisies entwined with ivy.

Miss Cathy Bunke, Athens, served as maid of honor. Miss Barbara Telin, Owen, Miss Cynthia Slaby, Madison, and Miss Elaine Fagan, Withee, served as bridesmaids.

Their floor length gowns were of pink silk linen, each fashioned with bell shaped skirts with a large bow in back. Each wore matching pink organza petal headpieces and carried a colonial bouquet of pink and white Shasta daisies entwined with ivy.

Carol Konieczny, flower girl, was dressed similar to the bride. She was escorted by Paul Konieczny, ring bearer. They are both cousins of the bride.

Dan Slaby, Madison, served as best man, while Allan Erickson, Elgin, Ill., Joe Slaby, Phillips, and Alfred La Brec, Ladysmith, served as groomsmen.

Robert Konieczny, Chicago, Ill., and Jim Zwiefedhopher, Milwaukee, ushered.

Immediately following the ceremony at 12 o'clock, dinner was served at the American Legion Hall, with a reception in the afternoon at the bride's parents home for relatives and friends. A wedding dance was held at the American Legion in the evening.

The bride is a graduate of Owen High School and also a graduate of Taylor County Teachers College. The groom is a graduate of Phillips High School and also a graduate of Taylor County Teachers College. The newlyweds are leaving in two weeks for Heart Butte, Mont., where she will teach first grade, and her husband will teach math and science.
