Burhop, Darlene C. (17 JUL 1965)

White Gladioli and roses adorned the altar of St. Katherine's Church when Miss Darlene Clare Burhop was united in marriage to Mr. Joseph Justin Switzky on Saturday afternoon, at 4 o'clock, July 17, 1965. The Rev. Richard Hewetson performed the nuptial ceremony which was preceded by Diane Burhop singing "O Perfect Love," accompanied by Mrs. William Klammer at the organ.

The bride is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Louis Burhop of Owen and has been employed by American Family Insurance Company at Madison for the past two years. The groom is the son of Mr. and Mrs. Arthur Switzky of Madison, and is an engineer aide employed by the state of Wisconsin Highway Commission.

When given in marriage by her father, the bride was attired in a floor length gown of silk organza and Alencon lace taffeta and nylon net. The gown featured a portrait neckline of scalloped lace trimmed in iridescent sequins, long tapered sleeves and snug fitted bodice. A full bouffant skirt with appliqued lace and full sweeping back with tiers of lace designed into a chapel train. Her princes crown of aurora crystals was secured by a waist length veil of imported English silk illusion. She carried a spray of white and pink roses entwined with ivy.

Miss Diane Burhop, sister of the bride, was the maid of honor and Miss Georgia Johnson, a close friend of the bride from Madison, served as bridesmaid. They were gowned in apple green de-lustered floor length peau de soie gowns designed with snug bodice and scooped neckline. The un-pressed pleated bell top skirts were accented with a Watteau panel back. Large matching cabbage roses, from which a nosegay veil was attached adorned their heads. They wore tiny white gloves and carried colonial boquets of white roses and carnations with green fern.

Attending the groom as best man was Eugene Nelson of Madison, and groomsman was Allan Burhop, the bride's brother.

Ushering were Kenneth Newberry, a close friend of the groom, from Madison, and Robert Prock of Eau Claire.

Following the wedding a dinner was served in the church dining hall to about a hundred guests. A reception was held also at the home of the bride. The newlyweds are now on a trip to the eastern states, visiting Washington, D.C., New York and the World's Fair. They will be at home after two weeks at 2330 Allied Drive, Madison, Wis.

Attending from out of town were guests from Madison, Burlington, Cambridge, Stanley, Colby, Abbotsford, Medford, Withee, Riplinger and Eau Claire.
