Humbird (18 October 1973)

Mr. and Mrs. Glen Stuve and children were guests of his mother, Mrs. Beatrice Stuve. Cary Austin of Beloit also was a dinner guest and spent the weekend with his aunt.

Mrs. LaVern Kaufman accompanied by her mother Mrs. Freida Zerbel, were in Neillsville Tuesday and Mrs. Zerbel called at the Otto Dux home.

Last Sunday, dinner guests of Mr. and Mrs. Gerke Licht of rural Fall Creek were Mr. and Mrs. Willard Stanley, Mrs. Emma Gerber and Mr. and Mrs. Roger Ness and family of rural Eau Claire, and Mr. and Mrs. Phillip Schmitz of Cadott.

Mrs. Walter Burkhalter of Rockford, Il., spent last weekend here with her mother, Mrs. Johanna Olson and at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Allen Zimmerman in Fairchild.

Mr. and Mrs. John Greub visited Sunday evening at the Elmer Duerkop home. Mr. Duerkop and Mrs. Greub drove to Hixton to call at the funeral home in honor of Gordon Staves.

Mr. and Mrs. Jim Kluver and children of Rockford, Il., spent the weekend at the Ernest Olson home and with other relatives.

Mrs. Harriette Gorst came home Monday afternoon from a weekend visit in Barron at the home of her sister.

Mrs. Levi Fitzmaurice has been going to Neillsville nearly every day to see her husband who is ill and in the hospital. Mr. Fitzmaurice is expected to be transferred to Rochester Friday, where he is expected to undergo surgery.

Mrs. Will Theiler was taken to the Neillsville hospital Tuesday for treatment. She is now much better and expects to be home soon.

Norman Theis took his aunt, Mrs. Paul Elger, to Neillsville Tuesday where they called on Mr. Elger, who is in the hospital. Mr. Elger is improving.

Mr. and Mrs. Earl Zimmerman drove to Spencer Tuesday to attend the funeral of martin Fisher.

Mrs. Olga Nelson was taken to the Black River Hospital Tuesday night suffering with fluid around her heart and lungs. She is coming along well and expects to be home soon.

The Happy Hour Homemakers will meet today (Thursday) at the Leo Janke home. Mrs. Janke will give the lesson on the use of blenders.

Mr. and Mrs. Archie Kirby spent from Monday until Friday visiting relatives in Sebeka, Mn.

Mrs. DeWayne parent and Steve took advantage of the school holiday Thursday to drive to Thorp and spend the day with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Pirl Burrington.

Saturday, Mr. and Mrs. Clarence Buttke, Mrs. Roger Nering and two boys of rural Milwaukee, Mr. and Mrs. Fred Bornowski and son of Wausau, Mrs. Fred Theiler and children of Cataract, and Mr. and Mrs. Willis Johnson and family of Appleton spent the day at the Ted Polege home. The Johnsons spent the weekend there, going home Sunday.

Fred Burrington of Elk Mound spent Saturday at the home of his sister, Mrs. DeWayne Parent.

Mr. and Mrs. Bud Walker of St. Paul and Fairchild spent the weekend with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. Archie Kirby.

Mrs. Gladys Lightfoot was a supper guests at the Keith Johnson home Sunday.

Mrs. Johanna Olson accompanied her granddaughter, Mrs. Allen Zimmerman, and family to the upper Pigeon Church Sunday to attend a special service.

Mr. and Mrs. Albert Weir, of Colorado, Mr. and Mrs. Howard Pierce of Black River Falls, Mr. and Mrs. William Aebersold and Will Theiler were supper guests Monday night of Mrs. Emma Gerber.

Mrs. Elgie Hardwick is visiting her sons in Oconomowoc and Kenosha for a few days.

Mr and Mrs. Arnold Matti were in Black River Falls Friday.

Mrs. Edith Smith and Mrs. Kate Dignin called on Mrs. Chet Baily Sunday, then drove on to Neillsville to call on Levi Fitzmaurice, Paul Elger and Mrs. Will Theiler, who are in the hospital, then to Black River Falls to call at the Clarence Olson home. They found those in Neillsville hospital better and Mr. Olson in Black River Falls much better.

Mr and Mrs. Ellis Williams and Mrs. Freda Barr visited Sunday evening at the home of Mrs. Kate Dignin.

Mrs. Matie Smith came home Sunday after spending several days at the home of her son, Everett Smith, in rural Spencer.

Mrs. Myrtle Greneman of Sheldon visited at the Arnold Matti home Thursday.
