Hanson, Haaken/Haken/Hakon (1870? – 1 SEP 1939)

Haaken (Haken / Hakon) Hanson, La Crosse, Rt. 1, passed away at a local hospital Friday evening at the age of 70? years.

Funeral services will be held Monday at 11 a.m., at the Hellwig-Morris Funeral chapel, the Rev. George Ulvilden officiating. Interment will be made in the Oak Grove cemetery.

The September 17, 1939 (2 weeks after Haakon Hanson died), The La Crosse Tribune ran the article below concerning King Haakon of Norway.  Was Haakon named for one of that king's fore-fathers?

Allamakee Resident Has 97th Birthday--Lansing, la. (Special) Mrs. Karen Hanson celebrated her 97th birthday Wednesday at the home of her daughter, Mrs. Sever Johnson.  Mrs. Hanson is the oldest resident of Allnmakee county. She enjoys fair health and although a resident of the county for many years she still speaks only her mother tongue. She has three daughters, Mrs. Johnson, of Lansing, Mrs. Lars Hanson of Waukon, Mrs. Albert Nelson of Cumberland, Wis.. and a son Cornelius of Waukon, besides 14 grandchildren and several great-grandchildren.
