Neillsville Locals (6 September 1973)

Several friends and relatives gathered Thursday at the Pete McCammant home to help celebrate his birthday. Mrs. Elroy Schiller and Randy, Pittsville, spent that evening with Mr. McCammant and Mrs. Mary Klune, and Mr. and Mrs. Mike Schiller and daughter, Elkhorn, visited with them last Wednesday.

The Rev. Lee Holmes was the guest speaker Sunday at the United Methodist Church.

Mrs. Harvey Neuendorf entertained several friends at her home last Wednesday morning in honor of the engagement of her daughter, Susan, and Russ Karl. A buffet breakfast was served to the guests.

Mr. and Mrs. William Slaats, daughter, Becky, and son, Mike, were Labor Day weekend guests of Gary and Jane Slaats. Parents, sister and brother of Gary, are from Cuba City.

Martha Gutenberger, Vera Cutts, Florence Bohnsack and Della Botnen have returned from a 1,700 mile trip through the Southern States and the Ozarks. The report was that many areas are in dire need of rain, and that pure drinking water and air were sometimes scarce. Wisconsin looked good to them when they returned.

Weekend guests of Mrs. Marie Keller were her grandchildren, Mr. and Mrs. Donald Graczyk, Mr. and Mrs. Orrin Benduhn and son, John, Miss Lola Kipp and Mike Melloch, all of Milwaukee.

Mr. and Mrs. Fred Subke and Mrs. Agnes Schneider spent last weekend at Mt. Sterling. Mrs. Schneider, who lives in Remus, Mi., is presently visiting with her sister and brother-in-law, the Subke’s.

Andrew Elmhorst and his sons were to furnish musical entertainment Wednesday afternoon at the monthly birthday party for Memorial Home residents. Members of the September Red Cross Volunteers birthday party committee were: Mrs. Elizabeth Crothers, Mrs. Jessie Beeckler, Mrs. Brian Bushnell and Mrs. Eva DeMert. Women of the United Methodist Church were to bake birthday cakes.

Mr. and Mrs. Walter Tipton, Jefferson, visited with Mrs. Mary Klune and Pete McCammant Saturday. All spent the weekend with friends and relatives in Kaukauna, Manitowoc and Wisconsin Dells.
