Popp, Carolyn A. (Andersen) (22 AUG 1920 - 24 FEB 2015)

Carolyn A. Popp, 94, Athens, died Tuesday, Feb. 24, 2015, at her home surrounded by her family.

She was born Aug. 22, 1920, in Algonquin, Ill., daughter of the late Frank and Catherine (Jensen) Andersen. On June 7, 1941, she married Richard Popp in Dundee, Ill. He preceded her in death on Feb. 19, 2005.

Mrs. Popp moved to the Athens area from Delavan in 1971. She was an avid Brewer fan, attending many games and watching many at home. She enjoyed family gatherings, reunions and always did the daily jumble in the newspaper.

She is survived by two sons, Richard Popp Jr. and Gary L. Popp Sr.; one daughter, Marilyn (Gary) Skurzewski; her grandchildren; great-grandchildren; two sisters, Vivian Rothlisberger, DeKalb, Ill., and Ethyl Gustafson, Tulsa, Okla.; and one brother, Frank Andersen, Walworth.

Besides her parents and husband, Richard, she was preceded in death by one brother, Norman.
Funeral services will be Friday, Feb. 27, 2015, at 11 a.m. at Christ United Church, Athens. Rev. Teri A. Hanson will preside. Burial will be in the Athens Village Cemetery. Friends may call Friday from 9 a.m. until the time of service, all at the church.
