Mrs. Geo. Broier and children returned Tuesday from their Iowa trip.

A. Coffin, depot agent at Chili, visited with Mr. and Mrs. Gus. Kaiser Sunday.

Kearney Davis has resigned his position at the Knorr & Rausch Ford sales rooms.

M. Marcus and family of Minneapolis are visiting with Mr. and Mrs. Harry Svirnoff.

The ladies of the Catholic Church will serve ice cream and cake all day next Sunday on John Marx lawn.

Pat Melamphy went to Eau Claire Saturday to spend the summer and may decide to remain there even longer.

Louis Gramms returned hone to Rock County Tuesday after a short visit here with W.C. Thoma and family.

Mrs. N.E. Crandall went to Minneapolis Tuesday and from there goes to Greybull, Wyoming, to visit with her son.

Dorothy, Margel and Douglass Andrews of Markville, Minn., are here to spend their vacation at the John Richardson home.

The Community Club will meet on Saturday afternoon, July 12, at the Red Cross rooms to fill comfort kits. A large attendance is requested.

Mrs. Wm. Kelch of Markville, Minn., came last week for a visit with her parents, Mr. and Mrs. John Richardson, and with other relatives and old friends.

J.A. Pitts of Tioga nearly cut the little finger of his right hand off on Tuesday in a wood saw and will take a vacation for a few weeks while the hand is healing up.

Harry Neff brought is little son home from the Marshfield Hospital Tuesday. Mrs. Geeslin, who has been taking care of the little fellow, also came home on Tuesday.

Myron Wilding, Paul Viergutz, Tony Handke, Herb Brooks and Nic. Linster drove to Flambeau last week. Mr. Linster will move the Linster saw mill to the Wilding timber tract this fall and do the sawing there.

The following young men went to Beloit Tuesday with Emil Stelter to work in the Fairbanks-Morse plant: Paul Schroeder, Leo Hagen, Herbert Larson, Hugh Stoffel, Ralph Anderson, Dan Glopf, Harold Anthony, Claud Weisner, Frank Strangfelt, Elmer Heyderer.

Adjt.-Gen. Orlando Holway was notified of the arrest in Juneau, Alaska, of Demeltar Stancov, alleged draft evader. Stancov registered in 1917 at Denton, Lafayette County, Wisconsin, but failed to file a questionnaire. He will be inducted into service.

Last Sunday afternoon and evening the Catholic Foresters initiation drew quite a large crowd, and a great many visitors came from nearby cities. A fine program of entertainment had been prepared for the guests and in the evening a social session and program was held at the Woodman Hall.

Harold C. Balch is a member of the Headquarters Troop Detachment of the 86th Division at Camp Grant. He was visited July 4th by the following party which motored from Madison to Camp Grant: Mr. L.R. Balch and wife, Miss Nettie Grady, Mrs. H.C. Balch, and Mrs. Nettie Balch of Neillsville.

Mrs. Lon Cook and Mrs. Will Cook returned Monday night from a week’s trip to Ft. Leavenworth to see Mrs. Lon Cook’s son, Ben Hart. They report that the Neillsville boys there like the life of Ft. Leavenworth particularly well, for they say that cantonment is one of the very best in the country. The ladies saw quite a lot of country while they were gone and report crops all over as looking the best in the history of the country. Wheat was being threshed in many localities and is an excellent crop. The ladies stopped off at Sharon for a couple days visit on their return trip.

Miss Rosa Kubat returned home to Mauston Monday after a few days visit with the John Kubat and Grotsky’s families.
