Pitt, Dorothy Ann (5 November 1930 - 4 January 2015)

Dorothy A. Pitt, age 84, returned to her heavenly home on January 4, 2015, after a valiant battle with cancer. Her devotion to her family and her firm belief in God supported her in her struggle and ultimately gave her peace. Funeral services will be held on Friday, January 9, 2015, at 10:30 a.m. at St. Bernard-St. Hedwig Catholic Church, in Thorp, WI, with visitation from 9:30 a.m. until time of service. Father Janusz Kowalski officiating and burial will follow in Old St. Hedwig’s Catholic Cemetery.

Dorothy Ann Papierniak was born to the late Louis and Helen (Chmaj) Papierniak, in Thorp, WI, on November 5, 1930. She had a spiritual connection throughout her life and received all of her Sacraments at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church. She graduated from Thorp High School in 1948, then graduated from the Marshfield School of Nursing in 1951 with her Nursing Diploma and was a devoted nurse for 35 years until enjoying her retirement years to follow.

Dorothy was blesses with a loving family. She married her best friend, Gilbert A. Pitt, on November 4, 1951, at St. Hedwig’s Catholic Church in Thorp, WI. They moved to Milwaukee, WI to start their married journey together. They raised their family with patience, love, and the spiritual beliefs typical of their successful marriage of 63 years. She enjoyed traveling, camping, and the importance of family and friends, and was a significant role model for us all.

Dorothy was our example of unconditional love and understanding and taught us all about family values, courage and strength. Her battle with cancer was her final example to us all how strong she could be and the strength she found from our Lord. She is dearly missed by her loved ones, who celebrate the fact that she is at peace with her Creator.

Dorothy is survived by her husband, Gilbert, of Mosinee, WI; her sons: Paul (Jane) of Greenwood, WI, Guy (Robin) of Mosinee, WI; her daughter: Janis (Wayde) Schwarz of Berlin, WI; her grandchildren: Theresa (Harry) Porter of Clayton, OH, Melissa Rahal of Rockledge, FL, Angela (Edwardo) DeJesus of Rockledge, FL, Jacob and Samantha Pitt of Mosinee, WI, Alan (Analynn) Schwarz of Roseville, MN, and Marie (David) Knuth of Ripon, WI; 11 great-grandchildren; her brothers: Louis Papierniak of Thorp, WI, Donald (Beverly) Papierniak of Denver, CO; her sister: Judith (Harold) Koslo of Germantown, WI, and many loving nieces and nephews.
