Weix, Doris (Franz) (25 MAR 1948 - 21 OCT 2014)

Doris (Franz) Weix, 66, of Eau Claire, passed away from progressive supranuclear palsy on Tuesday, Oct. 21, 2014, at Fall Creek Valley Care Center in Fall Creek.

Doris was born on March 25, 1948, in Athens, to Leo and Elizabeth (Boehm) Franz. On September 21, 1968, Dori married Al Weix of Colby. Together they raised three daughters of their own and had numerous foster children.

Dori went back to school and received a degree in accounting. She enjoyed flowers, birds and traveling throughout the United States and Europe. She was an avid seamstress and loved crocheting and knitting.

Dori is survived by her husband of 46 years, Al Weix of Eau Claire; three daughters, Linda (Jan Landau) Weix of Antwerp, Belgium, Laurie (Greg) Adams of Chetek and Lisa (Erick) Peterson of Pleasant Prairie; three grandchildren, Amy, Addy and Seth, plus one on the way; three brothers, Don (Sharon) Franz, Lloyd (Theresa) Franz and Bob (Kathy) Franz; and three sisters, Marie Knetter, Arlene (Roger) Olson and Bettie (Dick) Hartwig.

She was preceded in death by her parents; brother, Norby Franz; sister, Lorraine Zelinski; and nephew, Mark Franz.

A Mass of Christian burial was held at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Oct. 25, 2014, at St. Olaf Catholic Church, 3220 Monroe St., Eau Claire. Visitation took place two hours prior to the Mass on Saturday at the church. Burial took place at noon on Monday, Oct. 27, 2014, at the Northern Wisconsin Veterans Memorial Cemetery in Spooner.
