Funeral services for Emil Weix, 63, Merrill, a native of Colby, were held Wednesday, February 1, at St. Robert’s Catholic church, Merrill. Burial was in the St. Francis cemetery. Mr. Weix died Sunday, January 29, at his home in Merrill, of an apparent heart attack.

Emil Weix was born at Colby December 5, 1906. His marriage to Kathleen O’Malley took place at Medford October 5, 1927. He had managed the Oconomowoc Canning Company plant at Medford and later moved to Merrill where he managed the Lincoln Canning Company.

Survivors are his wife, Kathleen; two daughters, Mrs. John Ritchie, Wisconsin Rapids, and Mrs. Carrie McCarron, Merrill; two sons, Emil Weix Jr., and Mark Weix, Merrill; 15 grand children; four sisters, Mrs. Francis Steinwand, Colby, Mrs. Elizabeth Garrow, Madison, Mrs. Edward Brown, Athens, and Mrs. Herbert Gambort, Ashland, and a brother, Joe Weix.
