------ Toelle, Fred S. (29 MAR 1897 – 03 FEB 1967)

Fred S. Toelle, 69 Abbotsford, was pronounced dead on arrival at St. Joseph’s hospital Friday, February 3. Cause of death was apparent heart failure. He was taken to Marshfield by ambulance after collapsing Friday evening. He had been in poor health for some time.

Funeral services were held Tuesday morning at St. Bernard’s Catholic church, Abbotsford. The Rev. Emil Hodnik officiated and burial took place in Abbotsford cemetery.

Mr. Toelle was born March 29, 1897, at Stratford where he received his education. His marriage to Elizabeth Mateofsky took place May 24, 1921, at St. Bernard’s Catholic church, Abbotsford.

Mr. Toelle had been a cheesemaker in the Stratford, Arpin, Dorchester, and Stetsonville areas, and then owned and operated several taverns in Abbotsford and one in Kennon.

He was a member of St. Bernard’s Catholic church at Abbotsford.

Survivors are his wife; one daughter, Mrs. Leonard (Evelyn) Colby of Abbotsford; one son, Dale Toelle of Colby; three sisters, Mrs. Fred (Lydia) Reichert, Marshfield, Mrs. August (Pauline) Schnelle, Stratford, and Mrs. Elroy (Anna) Evenson, Milwaukee; two brothers, Edward of Wisconsin Rapids and Henry of Stratford, and nine grand children.
