------ Erickson, Carolyn L. (10 DEC 1966)

Announcement is made of the marriage of Miss Carolyn L. Erickson of route 1, Barron, and Verl V. Verhuist of route 1, Abbotsford.

On Saturday evening, December 10, 1966, the son of Mr. and Mrs. Vilas Verhulst of route 1, Abbotsford, and the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lester Erickson, route 1, Barron, exchanged marriage promises in the First Lutheran church at Barron with the Rev. C. P. Thronson officiating. During the 8:15 o’clock candlelight ceremony Mrs. Dale Thosbakken was organist and accompanist for the soloist, Eugene Nordby.

The bride appeared in a floor-length sheath gown of peau de soie. Chantilly lace trimmed the long sleeves and highlighted the crescent waist line and bordered the full train. A halo pillbox with bouffant veil completed the bridal ensemble. She carried a bouquet of white stephanotis on a bed of ivy.

Her attendants carried cascades of white roses and ivy. They were attired alike in frocks designed with leaf green velvet bodices, the ruffled three-quarter length sleeves trimmed with Venetian Lace, and sand crepe sheath skirts with empire waist line.

Mrs. Cal Romsos served as matron of honor and the Misses Barbara DeWolfe and Ann Simons, both of the Twin Cities, Minn., were the bridesmaids.

George Brooks of Sparta was best man and Claude De Haan of Abbotsford and Cal Romsos of Hayward were groomsmen.

Jim Folz of St. Paul and Ron Solberg of Ettrick were the ushers.

For her daughter’s wedding, Mrs. Erickson chose a beige three-piece suit with brown accessories. The groom’s mother wore a teal blue suit with white accessories and both mothers and identical corsages of red roses and white stephanotis.

After the ceremony the new Mr. and Mrs. Verhulst received the congratulations and best wishes from about 180 guests at a reception held in the church basement.

The groom is in the graduate school of agriculture at River Falls, presently working under an assistantship in agricultural education. His bride is a senior at Wisconsin state university at River Falls, majoring in sociology and psychology.

They are making their home in River Falls.
